Central NSW Councils (Centroc) represents over 236,000 people covering an area of more than 70,000 square kilometres comprising the local government areas of Bathurst, Blayney, Boorowa, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes, Harden, Lachlan, Lithgow, Oberon, Orange, Parkes, Upper Lachlan, Weddin, Wellington, Young and Central Tablelands Water.
The Centroc Water Security Study was initiated in November 2008 to examine the region's water supplies. The investigation used sophisticated modelling to forecast urban demand for a 50-year horizon, and resulted in a two-pronged water security strategy that involves: 1) water conservation and demand management measures, and 2) new and upgraded water supply and storage infrastructure.
