Mike takes his role as an engineer seriously, saying, “I have an inherited responsibility to improve the culture and society in the world in which we live and work.”

Despite shouldering this responsibility, Mike also recognises the immense value of working in teams, particularly in the engineering profession. “When the team succeeds, that success is fundamentally attributed to each and every person in the team; and at the same time we all achieve personal and professional development,” he says.

Now, he would like to see a national strategic development program (theoretical and on-the-job based) introduced around the country, to address Australia’s technical skills shortage whilst delivering on the infrastructure and other technical needs of the country.

With teamwork, it could certainly be achieved.
