Andy spent 25 years serving in the Defence Force, and became an engineer so he could provide the next generation of soldiers with better tools and systems to give them the winning edge.

Since becoming an engineer, he has certainly been busy. One of his biggest claims to fame was making the “Go Live” date on the Queensland Motorways Free Flow Tolling system. “No other tolling system has gone live on time. As Engineering Manager, seeing the system work as planned was most satisfying,” he says.

He has also designed and developed the ground communications system for the Aussie Tiger Defence Helicopter; developed an air defence system called Vigilare; and worked on a Mobile Communication Centre for the DJFHQ.

But his dream? “To turn the Lake Eyre basin into a permanent inland sea by building an inlet canal and outlet pipeline from the Great Australian Bight, providing opportunities for power generation, ecosystem transformation, greenhouse effect reduction, tourism and industry.”
